Secrets of Rigging the Techno Frog Revealed!

Let me tell you about my favorite way to set up my techno frog when I go fishing. There are two methods that I usually employ to catch the big ones.

Using the Ned Rig for the Ultimate Finesse Frog

Firstly, I like to use the Ned Rig when the bottom isn't too grassy and I need to move the frog very slowly. This is because the techno frog is the best bait to use for finesse fishing. All you need to do is put it down, pull it along, and give it a little nudge. When you use this technique, it looks like a frog is trying to go to sleep for the winter by digging into the ground and maybe finding some bass eggs. As you may know, frogs are one of the biggest predators of bass eggs on our little planet. Alternatively, it could look like a frog is in bad shape and about to die, which prompts the bass to come in for the kill. It's easy to see why this approach is so effective.

Using the Twist Lock Hook to make the Techno Frog Weedless

Secondly, I like to use an owner twist lock hook to fish for the techno frog. You can use it with or without weights, depending on your preference. I typically use a 16th-ounce weight on mine, which gives it a little more heft and allows me to throw it farther. This weight also helps the frog skip over lily pads without any trouble. When you drop it in the water, it moves in a soft, fluttering way, and its legs just barely kick. This gives the impression that a frog has jumped off a lily pad, and it works really well. You can even fish with this almost like you would with a twitch bait. Just throw it out there and hop it in, hop, hop, hop, hop, hop. The frog kind of whoshes and dives, and then jumps up. If you keep doing that, you will get absolutely hammered.
