Catching Spawning Bass on the Techno Frog
The spawn is one of the trickiest — and most rewarding — times to target bass. Knowing where they set up and what to throw makes all the difference. In this one, we're talking about fishing the spawn at different depths and how we fish the WM Bayou Techno Frog on a Texas Rig.

During the spawn, bass usually hold in water less than 10 feet deep. They nest around structure — weed beds, stumps, and rocks are prime spots. Finesse presentations like drop shots, shaky heads, and Texas rigs can be deadly around that kind of cover.
That's exactly where the WM Bayou Techno Frog earns its keep — it's built to look like one of a bass's favorite meals: a frog. And the Texas rig keeps the presentation natural and versatile, which is what you want when bass are locked on beds.
Rig the WM Bayou Techno Frog on a 2/0 or 3/0 worm hook and you're ready to fish it Texas-rigged. Add a bullet weight to the line and secure it with a swivel so it doesn't slip. Then tie a fluorocarbon leader from the swivel to your main line to complete the rig.
Cast it into the structure, let it sit for a few seconds, then start your retrieve. Give it the slightest twitch so the frog looks alive. The bite is often subtle during the spawn, so stay sharp — let them eat it, then set the hook.

Spawn finesse fishing is challenging, but the payoff is worth it. Stay in water 10 feet deep or less, target structure, and work finesse presentations like drop shots, shaky heads, and Texas rigs — with the WM Bayou Techno Frog as your bait of choice, big bass are well within reach.
